Juban and Lajong ARCs ready for climate adaptation

DAR Sorosogon conducts orientation on Climate Change Proofing in Juban and Lajong Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs) under the partnership development program with LGU-Juban.

A need to update their existing ARC Development Plan prompts them to undergo this orientation.

“Juban encounters environmental and socioeconomic pressures exacerbated by climate change, adaptation is ultimately an issue of sustainable development. That’s why we have to integrate climate considerations into planning,” said Leonito M. Gaveria, OIC Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II.

Participated by barangay leaders of Lajong, Calateo, and Sipaya; they highlighted the risks and opportunities brought by climate change in their area.

By viewing development through a climate change lens, appropriate steps can be taken to decrease vulnerability and ensure that project or programmes progress in a way that pays due consideration to the implications of environment change.
